Zdravo! Zovem se Marko. Imam dvadeset pet godina i živim u Beogradu. Put traje oko trideset minuta. U autobusu slušam muziku ili čitam knjigu. Volim da slušam srpsku narodnu muziku, pop i rok. Trenutno slušam pesme od Riblje Čorbe, Bajage i Đorđa Balaševića. Radim u jednoj IT kompaniji u centru Beograda, u ulici Kralja Milana. Posao mi je da programiram veb-sajtove. Počinjem u devet sati i radim do pet popodne. Voli kada radimo brzo i kvalitetno. Vežbam tri puta nedeljno: ponedeljak, sreda i petak. Trenutno gledam seriju „Senkice i fore“ i „Južni vetar“. Volim i strane serije: „Breaking Bad“, „Game of Thrones“ i „Stranger Things“. Volim jagode, trešnje, lubenicu leti, a zimi mandarine i jabuke. Ponekad kupim i cveće za stan. Popodne u subotu često idem u park. Najviše volim Košutnjak i Ada Ciganlija.

Hello! My name is Marko. I am twenty-five years old and I live in Belgrade. Belgrade is the capital of Serbia, and it’s a very big and beautiful city. More than one and a half million people live in Belgrade. I love Belgrade because it has many parks, two large rivers — the Sava and the Danube, lots of museums, theaters, cafés, and good restaurants.

Every day I wake up at seven in the morning. Sometimes even at six-thirty if I have to go to work earlier. First I brush my teeth, take a shower, and get dressed. Then I eat breakfast. I usually eat yogurt with muesli or a sandwich with cheese and prosciutto, and I drink coffee. Coffee is a must! I can’t start my day without it.

At eight o’clock I leave my apartment. My apartment is in New Belgrade, near the Sava River. I walk to the bus stop, it’s only five minutes. I usually take bus number 60 or 67 to the city center. The ride lasts about thirty minutes. On the bus I listen to music or read a book. I like listening to Serbian folk music, pop, and rock. Right now I’m listening to songs by Riblja Čorba, Bajaga, and Đorđe Balašević.

I work at an IT company in the center of Belgrade, on Kralja Milana Street. My job is to program websites. I start at nine and work until five in the afternoon. I have a lunch break from twelve to one. I eat in the cafeteria or in a nearby restaurant. I like ćevapčići with onions, pljeskavica, kajmak, and French fries the most. Sometimes I only get a salad because I’m trying to eat healthier.

During working hours I talk a lot with my colleagues. We have a team of ten people, and everyone is very pleasant. We help each other and we often joke around. Once a week we have a meeting where we talk about new projects. The boss is strict, but fair. He likes when we work fast and well.

After work, around five-fifteen, I often go to the gym near the office. I work out three times a week: Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. I do exercises for my chest, back, legs, and arms. After training I feel great and full of energy.

When I don’t go to the gym, I meet my friends at a café. We like the cafés “Jelena” in Dorćol and “Kafana Pavle Korčagin” at Zeleni Venac the most. We drink beer, coffee, or juice and talk about everything — work, girls, football, politics. My best friends are Nikola, Ivan, and Petra. I’ve known them since high school.

Around eight in the evening I go home. If I’m with friends, sometimes we stay longer and have lunch or dinner together. We like going to grill restaurants or pizzerias. The best pizza is at “Bucko” in Vračar.

When I get home, I have a light dinner — usually salad, soup, or yogurt. Then I watch a series or a movie on my laptop. Right now I’m watching the series “Senkice i fore” and “Južni vetar.” I also like foreign series: “Breaking Bad,” “Game of Thrones,” and “Stranger Things.”

Before bed I read a book. Right now I’m reading “The Bridge on the Drina” by Ivo Andrić. It’s required reading, but I like it very much. I read for about half an hour, and then I turn off the light at eleven. I like to sleep at least eight hours so I’m rested and organized the next day.

Weekends are a different story! On Saturday morning I don’t rush. I get up around ten, have breakfast slowly, and drink coffee on the terrace. My apartment has a small balcony with a view of the Sava — it’s the most beautiful morning in the world.

After breakfast I often go shopping or to the market. At the Kalenić market I buy fresh fruits and vegetables. I love strawberries, cherries, and watermelon in summer, and mandarins and apples in winter. Sometimes I also buy flowers for the apartment.

On Saturday afternoon I often go to the park. I like Košutnjak and Ada Ciganlija the most. In summer I go to Ada to swim and play beach volleyball. In winter I walk or ride a bike. Nature recharges my batteries.

Sunday is family day. My parents live in Zemun, so I go to their place for lunch. My mom makes the best beans, sarma, and gibanica in the world. My dad and I talk about Red Star and Partizan — he supports Red Star, and I support Partizan, so we always joke and argue a little. After lunch we drink coffee and eat something sweet, then I go home in the evening.

Sometimes on weekends I go on a short trip outside Belgrade. I like Fruška Gora, Avala, Oplenac, or Silver Lake. Nature, fresh air, and peace — that’s what I need to rest from the city noise.

That’s what my ordinary but beautiful life in Belgrade looks like. The city is full of energy, people are warm, the food is excellent, and I’m happy to live here. I hope that one day I’ll have a family and children and that we’ll enjoy everything Belgrade offers together.

Thanks for reading my text! If you’re learning Serbian, keep practicing — it will be worth it! See you soon!
