On uvek poručuje espresso i čašu vode.
„Hvala“, odgovara Marko. Uvek prvo uzme gutljaj vode, pa mali gutljaj kafe. Voli taj ritual. Otvara mejlove, proverava zadatke i piše kratku poruku kolegi: „Biću onlajn za pet minuta.“ Iako sedi sam, ne oseća se usamljenо. Oko njega ljudi čitaju novine, pišu poruke, čekaju prijatelje.
Za susednim stolom sedi stariji bračni par. Oni polako piju kapućino i dele jedan kroasan.
Posle sat vremena rada, Marko pravi malu pauzu. Skida slušalice i jednostavno posmatra prostor.
Marko comes to the same small café on the corner of the street every morning. The café is simple, with a few wooden tables and a large window that looks out onto the street. The waitress, Ana, already knows him. As soon as she sees him, she smiles and says, “The usual?” Marko nods. He always orders an espresso and a glass of water.
While waiting for his coffee, Marko takes his laptop out of his bag. He works as a programmer and can work from anywhere, but he likes this café the most. Soft music plays in the background, people whisper, and no one shouts. The smell of freshly ground coffee fills the space and helps him wake up. Cars pass outside, but inside it is peaceful.
Ana brings the coffee on a small black tray. “Here you go,” she says. “Thanks,” Marko replies. He always takes a sip of water first, then a small sip of coffee. He loves that ritual. He opens his emails, checks his tasks, and writes a short message to a colleague: “I’ll be online in five minutes.” Even though he sits alone, he doesn’t feel lonely. Around him, people read newspapers, write messages, and wait for friends.
At the next table sits an older married couple. They slowly drink cappuccino and share a croissant. From time to time, they look out the window and quietly comment on something. Their presence feels calming to Marko. It reminds him that a day doesn’t have to be chaotic to be successful.
After an hour of work, Marko takes a short break. He takes off his headphones and simply observes the space. He hears the sound of a teaspoon tapping the cup, the soft closing of the door, and a brief “Good day” from each new guest. He thinks about how this café gives him a sense of order and safety.
In the end, he pays the bill, thanks Ana, and steps outside. The morning has already become brighter. As he walks to his next meeting, he feels that the day has already started in a good direction. For him, the small café on the corner is not just a place for coffee, but a peaceful beginning to every day.
